12:12am: Ah yes...the joy of packing...
Well, today was full of surprises!!! (Kidding.) I packed...and packed...and packed...you get the picture. I have a TON of stuff. I think I might have OVER-packed. Oh well. It looks like I'm going to be heading over to Austin here in about 9 hours or so...I should actually be asleep!! haha. Yeah..right.

I was a lil' peeved earlier this evening. I tried to catch those lovely fellas from "Queer Eye For the Straight Guy" on Jay Leno tonight...but for some odd reason, my dumb ass television station had the NEWS on instead.

I finally caught the show right in the middle...when all of the fun was over. Hmmm...let's think about this: the local news vs. five gay men giving Jay Leno a makeover. Yeah...I'll take the latter please. I'm not shallow. I promise! :)

10:31pm: My car is a piece of CRAP!
Ok. So I'm a little peeved. I was supposed to take half of my stuff up to Austin tomorrow (or later today if you're talking time-wise)to start moving into the apartment. Well, that plan is out of the window now. My car's steering decided to screw up...AGAIN...for the THIRD time this summer. I think that God is playing a cruel joke on me. It looks like I'm going to have to wake up at the butt crack of dawn (aka: 7:30am) and take my car to the shop.

Good way to spend some of the last few days of summer! woo hoo! I guess that's what I get for driving a 1991 Buick Regal. Oh yeah baby...a classic vehicle.

I'll see you guys in Austin on Saturday then!
10:28pm: Warning for those watching their diet! NEW DISCOVERY!
Check out these facts:
A.) The Japanese eat very little and suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans.
B.) On the other hand, the French eat a lot of fat and also suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans.
C.) The Japanese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans.
D.) The Italians drink excessive amounts of red wine and also suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans.
E.) CONCLUSION: Eat and drink what you like. It's speaking English that kills you!

11:55pm: Started packing, went to work, etc. etc.
The rest of my week looks pretty busy...

I'm going to be moving half of my stuff to Austin on Thursday.

I started packing today before I went to work. I found out that I am MUCH less organized than I thought I was! Thank goodness I got started early.

Other than that, life is pretty boring at the moment...

12:45am: My weekend...
Sup?

I went to UT Hook Up, a Christian Summer Camp for incoming UT Freshman on Saturday. I was joined by Anna and Christy who both helped me lobby for Mu Epsilon Theta. We were proudly the ONLY Catholic Organization there. REPRESENT! Thankfully, we were able to spark some interest in a few of the girls there, and we now have some brand spankin' new prospective pledges! THE MADNESS of the new pledge period begins...

Went to work on Sunday. Sold some sexy lingerie and panties, measured women's breasts...you know, the usual work stuff. (You've gotta love Victoria's Secret) Ummm...that's pretty much it. Slept until 11. GOOD TIMES.

I'll be back in Austin next Saturday the 16th! woo hoo!

The summer seems to be winding down. *sniff*

8:57pm: Pimpin' ain't easy!!!
Ok, so I was on my way home from my grandparent's house this evening. I went over there to visit after work, and we had some excellent steak and shrimp for dinner. Anyway, that's not the point.

I stopped by the gas station before heading back home, and I noticed that there was this INCREDIBLY nice beamer parked right next to me at the pump. This really tall guy got out and I thought to myself, "damn...this guy looks so familiar!" Then, once I saw his face I realized that it was MALIK ROSE. You know...the World Championship San Antonio Spur-->Malik Rose! Anyway, I tried putting on the moves. Maybe I need a few more pointers....

His friends were acting like idiots. They drove by, asked about dinner, and shouted "Yo! This is what pimps listen to!" and they turned up the music in their truck super loud. I tried to take down some mental notes on how to become this so-called "PIMP" that they were talking about, but I'm at a loss. I don't remember anything. haha. The only thing I got out of Malik was a roll of the eye because of his friends and a "THIS is what I have to deal with."

Needless to say...I think he wants me. :) Kidding.

Disclaimer: Jessica is in no way REALLY trying to be a pimp. It's not humanly possible. She hates purple velvet hats with big plume feathers. It would never work.

Leno Gets 'Queer' Makeover
Aug 5, 1:11 PM EST

Associated Press

"Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" is turning its gaze toward Jay Leno.

The host of NBC's "The Tonight Show" will undergo a makeover at the hands of the "Fab 5" — the five gay stylists who give a straight man a new look each week on the hit reality show.

They're scheduled to appear on Leno's late-night talk show Aug. 14 — the same night NBC will re-air the second installment of the Bravo series. Then they'll come back the next night to show off the results of their work.

"Queer Eye for the Straight Guy," which made its debut July 15, provides a twist on the newly popular makeover shows, while even managing to impart a message.

Straight and gay men "are just guys, and they want to feel good about themselves," said David Collins, the series' creator. "We all do."

The show has set ratings milestones for Bravo and has been repeated on NBC. Last week, Comedy Central's Jon Stewart joked about it on "The Daily Show."

In what turned out to be a lucky break, Bravo was bought by U.S. NBC broadcast network after the channel picked up "Queer Eye" — and Jeff Gaspin, the NBC executive vice whose responsibilities include the cable channel, was enthusiastic about the series.

That support has translated into on-air NBC promotions as well as high-profile billboards touting "Queer Eye" in New York's Times Square and on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles.

Like NBC's gay-themed sitcom "Will & Grace," the Bravo series is groundbreaking, said Gaspin. "We're taking a common genre, the makeover show, and we're being really honest with it, we're having fun with it."

The gay stylists include food and wine connoisseur Ted Allen, co-author of Esquire magazine's "Things a Man Should Know" column, and Thom Filicia, named by House Beautiful magazine as one of America's top designers. Culture maven Jai Rodriguez, "grooming guru" Kyan Douglas and fashion sage Carson Kressley round out the advisory board.

The idea for the series came to Collins while gallery-hopping one day in Boston. He overheard a woman comparing her spouse, unfavorably, to a trio of sharp-looking gay men.

The three men heard too, and intervened to offer constructive criticism, Collins recounted. "As I left with my buddy, I jokingly said, `That was kind of the queer eye for the straight guy.' These guys swooped in there and helped this man out."

Collins marched into Scout Productions, the film and TV company which he co-founded, and suggested that a show had been born. Collins, who's gay, enlisted a straight colleague, David Metzler, to join in producing it for Bravo.

Next week, when the stylists head to "The Tonight Show," they will have their eyes on more than just a Leno makeover. The trade paper Variety reported Tuesday that Leno's set also will get a new look. The New York-based cast is expected to travel to Los Angeles next week to begin shopping for furniture and other fashionable goodies.

11:39am: Queer Eye for the Straight Guy
I absolutely LOVE this show. It's on TONIGHT at 9pm Central Time on the Bravo channel. If you haven't seen it, you really need to check it out. It's hilarious.

Thanks to Allison's live journal link, I was able to take a quiz to determine which member of the "Fab 5" I am!

Baskin Robbin's "Espresso 'N Cream" ice cream is now my favorite food. That stuff is soooo good. I wanted to by a quart of it, but I was afraid that it would melt before I got home. It's 1000 degrees outside! Ok, so maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration.

I worked this evening at Vickie's (thanks Lauren for the nick name)...no sickos came in today. Thank goodness...

Apparently, Allison feels like I'm a bit of a pimp...umm...thank you? Yeah. I definitely have Snoop on my speed dial now. FO' SHIZZLE!

11:48pm: Real quick, before I make everyone sick..
Here's an awesome quote I just found:

"Wow. I uh, I'm a lucky guy. Thanks for uh, everything. (Starts singing) I'm gonna go now, jump on the bed, and snuggle with my chicken stuffed animal that somebody gave me. (stops singing.) I'm gonna blow my nose. Maybe I'll go take a shower. Either way, it's gonna be relaxing, it's gonna be eventful and I'm gonna write about it. And uh...I hope we can have this conversation face-to-face one day. That would be very nice. I'll set up a rocking chair somewhere. You can come see me. I would love to have you over. I'll have a rocking chair for you, we'll play the harmonica, laugh a little bit, and the sun will hit us, we'll sweat our asses off. Dammit, that's gonna be a good day.

Until then, get your sleep, live your life, be a dork. "

9:39pm: Tired. In love with Mraz. Oh what a world!
Just got back from Austin this evening. I'm so tired...I was up until 5 am chattin' with the friends and goofing off after the Mraz concert. I got 4 hours of sleep...I don't regret it though! It was a blast.

Let me just tell you...Jason Mraz is the shit. I liked him before...yeah, I am definitely a fan. BUT DAMN, he was amazing in concert. That skinny boy can sing his booty off. Christy and I were 3rd row and we got autographs afterwards...the classic concert experience. Totally worth it.

Liz Phair was there too...she's got some CRAZY songs. I think I described them as "raunchy" later on in the evening. If you're curious as to why I think that, just ask...

Oh! There was this little Norwegian guy named Sondra (yes...the name is MALE I suppose) Lerche there too. Pretty good...I was impressed...

GOOD TIMES.

Before the concert, I stopped by Victoria's Secret. It looks like I'm going to transfer to the Austin location from here in good 'ol SA. I'm going to see how the whole "work and go to school at the same time" routine works out for me. It might be a little too much.

I woke up 4 hours after I went to sleep. I distinctly remember waking up and saying to my friends, "I feel like I just took a nap!" You're probably thinking: NO WONDER you're freakin' tired. Everyone went to church and then had lunch at Kirby Lane. I got to see a few people that I hadn't seen in a long time and it made me really excited to get back to Austin! One downside though...I saw my ex's brother there. Blah. Wierd, awkward, strange, nostalgic, surreal...all at once...if that makes any sense. I wonder which "stage of loss" I'm in right now...I don't think I believe in that crap anyway.

So, the bottom line is that I had an awesome weekend. This summer is going by WAY too fast.

Making the almost weekly trip up to Austin tonight. I'm going to see Jason Mraz at Stubbs BBQ on 6th. So excited. Can't wait. If you don't know who this guy is, you better learn my friend!! Ok, so maybe he's a little goofy looking...but whatever!

11:59pm: The infamous few days after Spring Break...
(sigh) Well, these past few days have been quite interesting. Everyone is definitely in "Spring Break" mode.

I'm just starting to get into the swing of things...

My RTF317 professor Jane Park was pretty funny today. She is a really (what's the word?) vivacious woman. Gotta love her.
Jane Park on modern television---> "..or the History Channel, where you can watch 'Secrets of the Ancient World' ALL F***ING DAY!!"

You know...I have to admit, reading it now...it doesn't seem that funny. But, at that moment, you better BELIEVE that I had tears in my eyes!

11:29pm: These next few days...
Can I just say something??! These next few days are going to be KILLER!!!!

4 reasons:
1. Tomorrow- Test
2. Friday- Test
3. Monday- Paper
4. Tuesday- Test

'Nough said.

You're probably thinking.."Freak! Why aren't you studying?" Oh...but I am...after I take a nice break.

Thanks to my psychotic professors, I've missed out on quite a few enjoyable social functions...I'm sure that I'll miss out on a few more VIP dates before this tortuous week ends. (sigh)

Other than that, I'm great! haha. Spanish class was actually quite fun today. I have a good time going to the class. Yeah..you heard me.

Anyhoo, today we had what my professor called a "Pop Culture" discussion. Basically, we learned the Spanish word for high, pot, drunk, and "how cool". Then..here's the kicker...she played a song for us. Some of you might have heard it. It's called "The Ketchup Song" by Las Ketchup. Alright...DUMB NAME, CATCHY SONG. I guess you can say that it's sort of like the new "Macarena." There's a dance that goes with it and everything! Just imagine this: your teacher standing in front of the class dancing for everyone. It was definitely a sight to see. The funniest part though, was when she made us all LEARN the dance and do it WITH HER! So...we all got up and danced around the room. THE HIGHLIGHT OF MY DAY. hehehe.....

Alright...I guess I need to study. (sigh) Does it ever end?????

1:25am: The First Entry...
Ok Ok...so it's one in the morning. I guess this is just what I do when it's late and I'm bored! Thanks Allison for this great idea. It's definitely a wonderful procrastination method when I actually have something important to do. haha!

Anyhoo, I went to the mall earlier this evening with my suite mate. It was quite an experience. Especially since I had never actually driven to the mall here in Austin (it's sad I know). We got lost....twice. hehe. But we got back to the dorm all in one piece and we're fine.

My friend got a few things...I didn't get anything..no money. (sigh) Oh well! We ate dinner at the food court and that's always fun! I had some Chinese food. I think it's so hilarious how there's always two oriental food places right next to each other in mall food courts..PLUS, they both have samples of their food on toothpicks sticking them in our faces. "PLUEEEEASE! Try our food!" Hey...I must admit! It works! I bought that Crispy Orange Chicken in no time!

I was watching the "Howard Stern Show" earlier on E!...man that guy is strange. This episode was particularly interesting. He had this 11 year old kid on. Now..this kid looked so innocent...he WAS NOT! He could fart like no one I've ever seen before!! haha. Howard timed this little tike for 5 minutes to see how many times he could fart. I think the kid farting to some extent of 200 times!!...QUALITY PROGRAMMING.

My bed's calling my name...I've gotta answer it.
